I'm not sure of the solution, but I think another part of the problem is phone's replacing computers for younger kids. Even when I was growing up I had to learn to fix and change settings and install programs with my computer(and I'm only 19!). I ended up breaking it quite a bit, but I also learned how to fix it, or at least get it into a usable state. Now most kids are growing up with a fancy smartphone instead of a computer, and these smartphones are designed to be much more locked down than any computer which allows most of these tech-illiterate users to be fine clicking all over until they get it right. I fear for what happens when smartphone exploits really take off.
