The Prestige blows up the ending in an incredibly stupid manner. It's the equivalent of someone inventing a lead-into-gold machine and using it to decrease the marginal cost of yellow paint for his factory.
Chris Nolan is an excellent director for incurious audiences. So long as you don't doubt any aspect of the story in the slightest bit, it's engaging. The minute you analyze any aspect of his plots they all unravel completely.
