I've enjoyed this movie ever since I saw it on AMC as a little kid. I think it's actually what kickstarted my adolescent fascination with monster movies, which led to horror movies and then horror writing. Tremors in particular is good for younger viewers because it's monsters are just well done enough to take seriously in the film, but the minute you try and picture one in your living room/bedroom, it's a silly thing that's easily remembered as pure fiction.
