Recap: Lil got lost in Harvard Sq. (because it is very confusing) and we made our way to Cafe Algiers where we had some mint tea. We talked hubski talk and talked lots of other talk and made our way back to where Lil was staying. Apparently people rent out rooms on boats now, which I didn't know. She was staying off of a wharf in the North End, which I am unfamiliar with because I am not a lawyer or someone that works in finance. I met Maria, who is a technologist that creates devices that convey touch at a distance ("Like in Transmetropolitan! I said, to which she happily said, "Yes!") and Rob, who is a senior software engineer at IBM (did I get that right?) and has never heard of reddit or hubski. They were listening to Joy Division while Maria prepared her talk for tomorrow, which is at 4 pm somewhere at MIT. I am going. theadvancedapes, you might be interested in her work.

Then Ron came. Ron is Lil's husband. He gave us onion strings. We all drank Prosecco and went out to dinner where our waiter was very busy. We drank some wine, ate food and had a good conversation. Ron told me about an idea he has for helping people to stay connected, which sounds pretty goddamn smart, but then, everyone at the table was much smarter than me, so it's no real surprise. I said goodbye and walked to the train while looking for a good alley to piss in, but it wasn't that kind of area so I held it, which was tough because the train went past Kenmore and Fenway where a bunch of drunk suburbanites got on and didn't understand how trains work.

Oh, yeah. I got a job today and I'm not sure I made the right choice (I had two job offers), but I'm pretty certain I did. It was a good day.
