I find that in writing poetry I have become obsessed with choosing the exact right word. Sometimes people will ask me to edit prose and I find myself nit-picking over their wordchoice in a way I know they don't care about and may not even be helpful to them. But it's the way I think. I can see that - the poem requires much more work in interpretation.
