No, these are all surfaces. The ones that look like solids are actually just the surfaces of the solid. For example, the "cube" which is defined by x^6y^6z^6=1, if you wanted the whole solid, you would have to put it as x^6y^6z^6 is less than or equal to 1. Otherwise, even the point (0,0,0) doesn't belong.

Ugh this is disgusting.

I agree. This test does not actually test religious knowledge.

31/32 - Atheist. Knew all the answers except for the Great Awakening question, and guessed 50/50. Missed it :/

While I agree, I think society has yet to condemn acquaintance rape in a way that would make all those who commit it realize what they are doing is wrong. A surprising number of men commit rape but don't even realize what they are doing is wrong and don't realize it's rape.

When society thinks of rape, it imagines a stranger with a gun in a dark alley. In most cases though, it couldn't be farther from the truth.

While I agree on both counts, I think greater social change is in order to fix our issues with rape/sexual assault.

This comment sends me ageist vibes. What does youth have to do with it?

Also, following proper English grammar says nothing about literacy. Maybe we should all stop criticizing the text and pick up the book and read it first.

I'm pretty sure Mark Twain's novels are a pretty apt analogy in this situation. (Not the quality of the content, but in the sense that the dialect/writing format it is written in should not directly affect what we think of the work.)

I honestly didn't realize that employers could do/were doing this.
by riemannman  ·  link  ·  parent  ·  post: The Evil of Being "Normal"
Society may be saying these things, but society is pretty fucking stupid sometimes. I would argue though that any mis-characterization of white, cis-gendered, straight men is greatly swamped by the negative stereotypes associated with other social groups. While you take exception with idealizing people like us as "normal" because of your perceived negative effects on people like us, I ask you to consider what it is like to be considered "abnormal" by society.

But regardless, what feminists ask is that those who are white, cisgendered, straight, educated, able-bodied, etc. etc. is that we constantly check our privilege. Being the "normal" has EXTREME privileges that we can't even begin to understand completely, since we have never fully experienced the barriers that other groups of people have.
