Ash and I feared this day would come eventually, but cancer, and how swiftly it destroys, was not even a consideration. If I can offer anything more, take your pet to the vet, often and spend quality time every chance you get. You don't want to regret those opportunities once they've passed.

The photo was taken by a very close family friend. We loved it so much, we had it printed on canvas. I'm in the process of making a frame and matching urn for it.

Its been four days now. I wrote this in a stream of consciousness on Saturday, never having any intention of anyone else reading it. After a few days, the hurting is a little less intense and I hoped there was something in my thoughts that might help another. I appreciate you contributing to that healing.

The policing of protest in America makes it clear that protest has become mere ritual, a farce, and that, by definition, it becomes illegal if it threatens to change anything or inconvenience anyone. In time, all the police announcements came to say the same thing to me. “You may go through your constitutional ritual,” they intoned, “but it must stop before anything of consequence happens.” We must, above all, preserve everything as it is.

This is the lesson to be learned.

No douthe they could use a trimming, though I think the service is pretty unique.

While more of a "character" than you asked for, The Cardiff Kook is legend around here. It is a local statue that is called the magic carpet ride. It is supposed to represent a new surfer, or kook. Most surfers hate it, but love to vandalize it. The additions have become part of the local landscape. This diorama is one of my favorites: http://surftweeters.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/Cardiff-K... This one appeared overnight last summer: http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/9528/img3164i.jpg

Incredible.

I read an article using this theory to explain why presidential candidates who win the election are rarely, if ever, the most competent person for the job. It's here on Hubski somewhere, I just can't find it...

On the subject of Hubski and news aggregators, I've been thinking more about how Hubski seems to fit a collaborative filtering model more than an aggregation model As I see it, the "filtering" is done through recommendations to a larger extent than autonomous coding. Thoughts?

If I believed in such things I would say that cats are, in fact, the Devil.

Good idea, but I think the 60% infrared captured with the nano tubes and the 40% captured with a conventional cell behind it will get the biggest bang for the buck in most applications. It would be cool, though, the day that a huge building's protective outside could also power it's inside...and maybe a neighbor's.

I see the cost to compete and advertise for an e-commerce business increasing right into Google's pockets. Google, Don't Be Evil
