Which is exactly why I'm avoiding voat. It's a direct clone, taking all of the things I hated about reddit before the "free speech" nonsense.

Their whole upvote/downvote system is badly designed and encourages it to be used as a "like/don'tlike" mechanism. You can't tell people to use a system a certain way when it can be just as easily abused to turn things into a popularity contest.
