This was an encouraging story. I am glad to see a successful family business put resources into the future of their company but also their community. Good on Tabasco, I hope they continue to fight the good fight.

I noticed that some of my interests don’t really have a lot of content on hubski as well. However, that means there is room to build that community or interest over here. Try posting topics in whatever areas and see what sticks.

For many women, guns are the great equalizer. Without a weapon she may not have been able to overcome the strength and weight of this crazy man.

This is something I have been observing for years. As a tutor, one of the biggest reasons students would say they were visual or auditory learners was to excuse the fact that they could not effectively read. This idea was reinforced when I began substitute teaching high schoolers.

Have you sat in any of the post 2014 Forester or Impreza seats? I have done several 8+ hour trips in both cars and have found them comfy. On the flip side, my 2010 impreza seats were back breakers.

I am not overly familiar with Gray, but it seems odd to me that his background is analytic philosophy yet he is a proponent of Meliorism.

I think what you said here is right to the point. The radical left is not being called out. The problem is, when they are, they recede right into buzzwords like racist, xenophobe, etc... It's not that those blanket name callings are accurate or legitimate, but sections of the media, universities, and some activist groups harness and praise this destructive behavior.

Interestingly, the destructive tension and elimination ideologies of the far left and right mirror that of the political atmosphere pre-World War I and II. It will be intriguing to see how the next 20-50 years unfold.

It is detrimental to learning and inquiry to label a worldview and epistemology unlike your own as anathema. While the university is indeed a test case for this toxic behavior, it is happening in all realms of public discourse.

I have been making big pushes for better SEO. We have a staff meeting on Tuesday where I hope to bring it up again.

Rodriguez was a lawful permanent resident. His status was revoked when he was convicted,
One of the most devistating parts of our “justice” system is the removal of an individuals rights. Even without the wrongful imprisonment, his rights as a resident should never have been revoked.

I am all for jumping ship away from Facebook, but I wonder what smaller companies can do. Tesla and Playboy don’t need Facebook ads to gain recognition. However the non-profit I work for uses Facebook as a big part of content distrabution.

This is pretty cool. I grew up in Carson City and drove past Mark Twain’s house everyday on my way to school.

The link between conservation and hunting is an interesting one. All of the hunters I know are very strong on conservation and protection of animals and the environment, although I know this is not universal. I plan on taking up hunting this year, but it will most likely be entirely duck and upland game.

In a way, this concept is present in the narrative of Genesis: "For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God." Yet, while this might be a root of wrongdoing under this paradigm, it is not the cause of each instance of wrong doing.

extra_nos  ·  600 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Mother Bears Are Staying With Their Cubs Longer, Study Finds

The conclusion in this article almost made it seem like the bears are using an "if this, then that" sort of logic. Only one line was really clear

The hunting is filtering out the females that keep their young for a smaller amount of time.
Females that were already staying with their young longer for some other reason are who continue to survive and thrive.

Another striking comment

Last year, Congress rolled back a law that banned killing bears and wolves in their family dens on 16 federally owned Alaskan wildlife refuges.
This seems very un-sportsman like, and since neither bears nor wolves are a necessary source of food, even for those who rely on hunting, I don't see the point. Who wants to brag about taking a trophy animal that was hiding in its den? That eliminates any skill or challenge that would have been gained.

I have been on for 4days, and I am liking it more and more. Things are conversational. If someone disagrees with you, they have to explain why they can't just hit a button.

The format and ethos are compelling. I see why you stuck around.
