Speaking for myself Robert Pirsig wrote "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance" which in my opinion is a not-great book I've tried more than once to get through. It hinges on the central character's knowledge of motos, his traveling from MN to MT, and his issues relating to mental illness and having ECT. This is the conceit for a lot of pondering issues of existence and...oh just leave it at "etc." The sad thing for me about the book is that it teases (but doesn't pay off) with motorcycling wisdom as much as it teases with philosophical writing. If you need moto books, I'd recommend Melissa Holbrook Pierson's "The Perfect Vehicle" and "The Man Who Would Stop at Nothing." But this is merely my opinion, I could be wrong.
