Birdhouse in Your Soul. Pretty much a definitive They Might Be Giants song - a cheery melody and fun lyrics with philosophical undertones.

Against All Authority. Hardcore ska punk seems to have aged a lot better than the softer kind of ska punk people are more familiar with (think Reel Big Fish).

They're also currently developing technology to scan blogs and other websites for obscene language and pictures, with varying degrees of punishment for a blogger who's found to have used curse words. Of course, prolific bloggers can't go through every post they've ever written and remove the language, but even posts from years ago are liable to get their authors punished. It's pretty obvious the government doesn't care about obscene language or security or anything, they're only interested in silencing bloggers in a manner that seems palatable to the conservative Russian population.

Yep. It's annoying as someone who's pretty involved with transgender rights because Tumblr is the one of the loudest trans voices out there, and this is the kind of stuff it produces.

I agree with everything you said, but really this is only how it should work. In practice all this talk about privilege is only serving to divide people who should be working together. I have legitimately seen trans activists spam a transman's tumblr with hate because he refused to apologise for having a cis roommate. Then there are really popular blogs like Misandry Mermaid who proudly talk about how much they hate men and how cishets don't deserve to call themselves feminists. This is making it harder and harder for social justice movements to gain traction among members of privileged groups, because they're not going to take a movement that produces catchphrases like "die cis scum" seriously. This is especially annoying because tumblr is by far the largest trans presence on the internet, and could be doing a lot more to help their movement.

It's integral to social justice that you remember you have advantages other people don't, but right now privilege-checking culture is in a very bad way.

That's an incredibly good way of phrasing it. I've tried explaining how it feels before but I hadn't really captured wallowing aspect of it.
