It's interesting that many human cultures place such high value on the male of a given species that it has an effect on group dynamics and demographics, as with deer, elephants and of course ourselves. Sometimes I think male children are so daring as an expression of some kind of built-in mechanism for population control. Then again, that's probably why there are so many seemingly-ridiculous warning labels. It's like an entry in The Hitchhiker's Guide: Human males existed mostly to fight each other and inspire warning labels. See entry for "Earth"
Yes, I think this is a product of patriarchy. In a sense that is ironic because patriarchy evolves to gain complete control of female reproduction (monopolizing a scarce resource).It's interesting that many human cultures place such high value on the male
