Perpetual Stardust - by Andra Bostian Ferguson
Science tells us we are born of Stardust, A calamity of stars exploding.
What's left are gentle shining sparkling specks that we all cherish, wish on, and pursue. There is Stardust all around us In our hair, on our shoulders, In the palms of our hands, Hold them up and look now, we hold a million souls, Be mindful, take good care.
You and I circled each other, checked each other out quickly, that is our natures, and then there was an explosion -
It was that sudden, and yet it was quiet like the stars
It happened to each of us the same day, with the same song, and it enveloped us like the warm gentle breath of a lover.
From there it was clear we were finished.
Finished with futile conversation to kill time, or to explore other possibilities, we were finished with old tunes, and ready to begin our waltz.
We began our own fugue - our own history - and a love like neither had ever experienced.
I adored you - that was a word I had never spoken until a day at our cottage when I fell into your arms and felt I would be ever safe.
Over our years together our stardust sometimes cracked together in unsightly spasms, swirled in angry nuclear fusion, and threatened to explode us apart, (All well within typical astronomical object behavior you know.)
The noises were simply movements in our fugue - electronic jazz bang interspersed in our waltz.
Always we returned, came together, found our blues eyes locked and in step again, and always your blue eyes reaching my soul...
Always I will love you.
I am so glad we are stardust - that you land on my shoulders and caress me like a soft cardigan sweater. I’ll fasten the top button now so you will never blow away from me.
Now - I am forever in your Stardust - thank you... For the history lessons - the fun - your arrhythmic body and a tonal vocals...
For your endless dedication to your family ...
And...for the last looks we shared - our blues eyes grabbing last moments of our waltz...
I will walk among your Stardust the ever of my life -
See ... We sparkle, As I wear you now!
