markupby thenewgreen 565 days ago · linkA puppet is our favorite kind of show writer because we can pull their strings and bend them over. It's a win-win." Funny stuff. I'm sure it's hilarious to you since you are in the industry.
As someone that used to work in sales for a despicable company, I found this one to be ridiculously on point: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cVLAvix-dX0
by thenewgreen 565 days ago · linkThis one is actually much funnier (imo). "Vinnie can also get coffee, you'll like him. He's a great kid, now that he's off crack"*
Are they rabbits?
We have some amazing stars attached, one of them is related to someone that almost got nominated for an oscar once. -The music world is VERY much like this. I was considering putting together a new band and one of the guys used to play in a band with the former (3rd generation) bassist of Iron Butterfly. wow, sweet!? It's essentially like saying, "I've never done much of note myself, but I once stood next to somebody that stood next to someone else that did".
by kleinbl00 565 days ago · linkI work with a guy who was at Ocean Way for about ten years. In addition to TV he still does music from time to time. It was funny - we were sitting mixing (redacted) and he said "I can't believe people are still talking about this song. I mixed it like forever ago." The song was RHCP's "Under the Bridge."
Anyway. One of the acts he was mixing said "We'd sure love to find a session guy that could play the sax just like on (famous record by X). My buddy said "well, that was (redacted). He's a manager at Guitar Center now. I'll bet he'd love to come down."

by thenewgreen 565 days ago · linkbtw... Ocean Way? That's sweet. still talking about this song, I've got news for him, it's going to be on the "oldies" station 20 years from now. That song isn't going anywhere anytime soon. I've been shocked at the RHCP staying power. I never would have guessed it... especially after seeing Flea act :)
by thenewgreen 565 days ago · linkSweet idea for a blog. I'm not relegating myself to the category of "those that tried" yet. I'm still hell bent on "doing". I have no illusions of fame (though fortune would be nice) but I would like to continue making music my entire life. I'm lucky in that I'm prolific. -Depending on your taste I may be prolific at writing shite or songs of mediocrity, but they come quickly and easily.
I recently had someone ask me if I'd be interested in helping to "score" their short film they are working on. I quickly said "yes" not even knowing what it was they were doing. I just like creating, having a project... etc.
I haven't not had a project that I was working on musically since I has 12 years old. Currently it's the new green's next album... but who knows, maybe I'll be scoring an indie short film soon starring someone that is cousins with Jeremy Renner? If not, there are always jobs at Guitar Center, right?
