Lovely idea. Could be the beginning of an amazing series of installations. Imagine a block of condo towers resonating from an amplified guitar -- David Byrne plays Vancouver's East Side. Could we pump the sounds of Egypt's traffic, the Amazon river and the Jasmine Revolution into a pipe organ and play them in harmony?

I agree, there is something about seeing how things work that add to the beauty. I remember being a kid and playing my families upright piano all the time. One day, I finally was able to open it up and see it's innards. -It was fascinating to me. -Still is! I'm not sure that a musician wouldn't be able play it eventually.

A musician could likely play this percussively pretty quickly.

One thing I don't remember him doing is noting the key, or thereabouts, of each pipe and tethering them systematically to the piano. Now that I think of it, it's pretty lame that this didn't happen.
