Amy Winehouse kept Amy Winehouse from being one of the greatest female vocalists in history. Adele wouldn't be shit without Amy not that she's anything special now. She took Nina Simone and Billie Holiday and turned them on their heads, she could've done a lot more too if she put the bottle/needle down.
I think they went to the same performing art school so they get compared but Adele is outright sterile compared to Amy. Yeah, she can sing like a motherfucker too but there's like zero soul there. I still think Amy Winehouse is one of the greatest female vocalists in history despite having two albums.
UM..... THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS. I have a pretty significant internet music crush on Nataly Dawn. Who I first saw here: and then they have countless videos... like: Bonus beatles number (given the recent discussion on the beatles) So thank you thank you THANK YOU for introducing me to MyTerribleFriend
:) she's pretty great! her husband (Jack, the drummer etc) is also really talented, and is one of the minds behind Patreon
I think I've found a new genre for me to love this week. If only I knew better words to describe it. It's a chiller electronic than I would normally listen to, but they have more lyrics than I would expect. Maybe its just EDM. Running - Autograf Wedding Bells - Cashmere Cat Rydia - Basecamp Ella Eyra - If I Go (This has more of a DnB feel to it) I could go on forever, but I think you get the idea!
Finally listening to Julia Holter since she's all over the potential best of 2015 lists and I haven't got around to her album yet. And obviously The World is a Beautiful Place and I am No Longer Afraid to Die because Harmlessness has been working it's way up my favorite albums of this year and I just bought a random grab bag 3 records for $12 deal from Broken World Media so there's that.
Kinda all over the place. City and Colour straight into TDE. That second track is fuego. nowaypablo
Saw Jay and Kendrick do this song live, it was supreme fuegs my friend. Jay Rock's pretty straightforward with his beats and flows and he always slays it. (City & Colour is dope too you just caught me at a very TDE time in my music taste)
Soundgarden - Tighter & Tighter This version of MalagueƱa Little Boots - Taste It (The rest of the album is quite good as well, more housey than her last works) The World Ends With You's soundtrack
I was lucky to have January Zero perform some songs on deck for me and my family today. Pretty awesome.
The young punks over at Show Me the Body released this a month ago. https://ramplocal.bandcamp.com/track/peaches And here's some Growlers to wash your sorrows away.
I'm gonna double up this week so I don't make this song its own submission. Sometimes you have a vision for a music video when you hear a song and "Birdhouse in Your Soul" comes closest to to vision I had for its video with the weird robot dance. I think the video is perfect for the song. I also have a vision for the song "Laid" by James but its so ambitious and weird I doubt the video matches up.
