Hubski Update: Farewell, my hub.

One of our current goals for Hubski is to clean up the user interface, and to simplify things in general. To that end, we've eliminated the "my hub" page. In short, the page wasn't being used very much, and its components could be easily incorporated into other parts of the site.

Now, when you click on a user's name, you have the option to visit their 'about' page. The about page provides general information about the user, as well as some stats that might help you decide whether or not you'd like to follow them.

In addition to these changes, we've begun an update to the design of the site. More changes to the UI and the design are coming. However, I prefer to take these things stepwise, and to see what works and what doesn't.

As always, feedback is much appreciated.

EDIT: Sorry about the cache nonsense making things look weird at first. On future updates I'll start forcing a refresh from my end.

Can we get a dark theme?

You can now find a dark theme in your controls, ElGuapo.

astol and yotta, you seemed interested too.

What do you have in mind?

Personally, I find light grey on dark grey to be the most appealing. Many "dark" themes have too much contrast for my taste. I think something like this is very nice, color-wise.

Similar to Redditch is Fun for Android. I basically ally gives you a standard black text on white bg, or white text on black bg. Great for bedtime reading

As usual, refreshing your browser might be in order. I altered some existing images and elements.

Did you get my mail message? Weird back masking on the hubski logo now, as well as the notification hub wheel, but only when it is orange
by mk 383 days ago  ·  link
Sorry about that. I updated those images without changing the names. A solid refresh alt-refresh on PC, will update it.

I don't see a mail message.

Hmm. Refreshing in mobile safari is not doing it...
by mk 383 days ago  ·  link
Hm. Looks dandy on my iPhone.

Try dipping your phone in a glass of water. That might wash out the cache.

Done!

-posted not from my iPhone.

Cool. No message is weird, I sent two over the past couple days...
by mk 383 days ago  ·  link
That is not good. I'll send you a test one now.
by ecib 383 days ago  ·  link
K, I will send a screen cap of what happened after I just hit send.
by mk 383 days ago  ·  link
I found the problem. Your phone auto capitalized and sent to 'Mk' instead of 'mk', and 'Mk' doesn't exist. I'll fix that.

Thanks.

yah - I'm still getting some strange artifacts after restarting browser and refreshing. (Safari on OSX)
by guiseroom 383 days ago  ·  link
Unacceptable. Ignored!
by mk 383 days ago  ·  link
I'm surprised I made it this far. :)
by guiseroom 383 days ago  ·  link
I mean, who are you anyway?
by mk 381 days ago  ·  link

Great work mk, the "about" section is much more helpful now.

I would love to be able to collapse the similar posts section. It can cover the commenting window, making it impossible to re-size the window on smaller screens.

:/ It should resolve. I believe from now on I'll start forcing the browser to update the CSS from my end. This method is too janky.
by insomniasexx 382 days ago  ·  link
It's resolved. Yay!
by ecib 383 days ago  ·  link
Same here. Been that way all morning on mobile safari iOS 5.1

From the Home screen, choose Settings > Safari > Clear Cache.

At least it's there on mine.

by ecib 383 days ago  ·  link
It's all good now. Settings>safari>clear history worked
