Amazing Poem

I came across this poem on the radio yesterday. Its really amazing who the author is, considering his other body of work.

Remain sitting at your table and listen.
  Don’t even listen; simply wait.
  Don’t even wait.
The world will offer itself freely to you.
To be unmasked, it has no choice.
It will roll in ecstasy at your feet.
-Franz Kafka

It's the opposite of "Kafkaesque."

Yes, when the guest recited it on the radio, he asked the host to guess the author, and she guessed Rumi and a couple other guys I hadn't heard of. Kafka never would have come to mind, even if I knew he wrote some poetry.

You forgot a line:

Remain sitting at your table and listen. Don’t even listen; simply wait. Don’t even wait. The world will offer itself freely to you. To be unmasked, it has no choice. It will roll in ecstasy at your feet. Its cold black shell clacking against the table leg.

Such a beautiful poem.

Thanks. Didn't see that in the version I read.

Well, I was slightly kidding :) It's what he meant to write, I swear!

Haha. That's hilarious. You got me, because it does make that poem sound so much more Kafka!
