Hubski Update: Similar posts

One thing that we would like to improve on Hubski is content discovery. Today we are trying out something to that end.

Now when you visit a post, to the right of that post you may see a few recent posts that share the same tag. That's it.

Let us know what you think about that!

In other news: Everyone seemed to have a great time at the NC Hubski meetup. We have plans to put together a Michigan one in the next several weeks, which happily, I will be able to attend.

I should also mention that we now have Facebook and a Google+ pages. I know... I know! No worries, these pages will remain separate from the site. But, they have been a good way to share Hubski with folks we know. Please do the same if you know some good potential hubskiers.

That's about it. Thanks!

p.s. guiseroom, you won't see similar posts from users that you ignore. ;)

If you need help organizing a Michigan meetup, let me know. I have experience organizing events from MISkeptics.

Have you already linked miskeptics.org on hubski? If not, maybe you should. I went digging just based on this comment, and I'm already a few articles in. cool stuff!

Thank you sir! I appreciate it.

For sure. I'll send you a message once we have an idea about the date. Thanks!

I love the idea but I dunno if I like the placement. It sort of just looks dropped on the page. Let me think about it a bit more.

Make sure your browser cache is refreshed. That's my bad. It should be to the right of the comment box.
by insomniasexx 390 days ago  ·  link
Refreshed. This is on my Mac Pro 2006 Tower - 23 inch monitor - Chrome: http://i.imgur.com/sDxp6.png It looks the same in Safari.
by mk 390 days ago  ·  link
Ha. It does look like a satellite out there on your big ol' monitor. :)

Hm. I'm open to suggestions. Maybe I could add a solar panel.

I love you. That just made my morning.

Lol. It looks better on my 13 inch MBP. I'll think about it.

I feel like the grumpy old man of hubski.

I think the role needed filling. Now, if you would please just kindly point out which part of Hubski your lawn resides in, then I'll make sure to keep off it.

Does that mean I can be the whippersnapper?
by mk 390 days ago  ·  link
Watch it. He might ignore you.

I kid, I kid, guiseroom. :)

I think my laptop is too small. :(

Even with my browser full-screened it appears under the comment box instead to the side, like so.

by mk 391 days ago  ·  link
Ah, give your browser a refresh. I have a bad habit of changing the content of existing CSS classes.
by newgameplus 391 days ago  ·  link
Yay, it works now. That was fast.
by thenewgreen 391 days ago  ·  link
It did that for me too until I refreshed, now it looks great. Nice work guys. I'm digging the fact that when you refresh the page you get more options. I also like that it will make me be more aware of how I'm tagging. There's more of a consequence to tagging now... you know?

Tags... the third rail of Hubski.
by thenewgreen 390 days ago  ·  link
FYI, I posted this to /r/hubski/.
by mk 390 days ago  ·  link
Better than /r/suggestions I suppose.

Mine seems to overlap on top of the comment box on some posts: http://i.imgur.com/0goUt.png

Not really a problem but I thought I'd just report a bug. My resolution is fairly small so that might be the issue.

by mk 390 days ago  ·  link
Ya. That will be fixed soon. Same issue on the iPad. -Thanks.

fyi mk: Mine looks like this on my iPhone.

Is it possible to have the "tabs" or "save" option on the similar posts? I like to be able to stay where I am, but open up related content for later viewing.
by mk 390 days ago  ·  link
Yes, that's doable. Is there one that you'd prefer? I'd like to save as much space as possible.
by steve 390 days ago  ·  link
oooo... tough one. I think I use tabs more.
