I feel like most women who do a really good job expect to be appreciated for the work they do, for their boss to notice and reward them, while men have no problem saying, "I'm awesome; pay me more". Just anecdotal observation.

If this were true then the gap would be around the same on all or most professions, as we can see here http://www.guardian.co.uk/news/datablog/2011/mar/08/internat... it isnt
