- "People weren't very crazy about him. They booed him when he came onto the court," says retired NBC sportscaster Bud Collins. He was calling the match that day at Wimbledon, 35 years ago. "And of course Borg was the gentleman, the stoic Swede, and they played this magical match which went on and on and on."
Here is the match
wasoxygen, -back when they used the whole court.
A good doc on the two:
Am I missing something or has tennis completely lost it's attitude? Guys like McEnroe and Connors just don't seem to be playing at a high level in today's game. I'll have to watch that doc when my WiFi is set up. Another doc you might be interested in is the 30 for 30 on Jimmy Connors.
You are not missing anything imo. Watch that documentary I posted about Mac and Bjorn. Mac says of Connors, "He's not a nice guy in general, but even less so when he's about to play you." -or something like that. Connors had attitude, Mac did too and Bjorn Borg was just a zen master on the court. I really don't watch much tennis these days, but I'd like to start watching some now that my daughter is older. I'd like her to get interested. It's such a wonderful sport to play. I think it would be a great gift to her for the rest of her life to instill a love of the game.
