Robotic surgeries safer, but costlier.

Patients who have robot-assisted surgeries on their kidneys or prostate have shorter hospital stays and a lower risk of having a blood transfusion or dying - but the bill is significantly higher, a study found.

I've saved this post to read later. Curious though, does it say it's more expensive than the worst alternative? Meaning if someone does need a blood transfusion etc? I just wonder if aggregately speaking, it's less costly for the medical community?
