My wife and I are attending a wedding in Memphis in October. I've never been to Memphis and I'd like some suggestions on what to do. It also happens to be around the time of our 10 year wedding anniversary so I'd like to take her to a nice restaurant. She's a vegetarian, but almost any nice restaurant has options that will work for her except barbecue places...
How about music venues? Nice hotels? Recreation? Any tips are appreciated, including places or things to stay away from.
Thanks!
Thanks for that, now I will have that song walking around my head all evening. I'm on the fence about the whole Graceland thing, I'm not big on touristy stuff but everyone has told me that it's a must.
I could care less about Graceland myself - but as a singer/songwriter/performer, I think you're kind of morally obligated to check it out.
I think you may be right, but I'll be with my wife and we get so little time together alone. Not sure she'd want to spend it there, but she may surprise me.
Nice, thanks kb. I booked a reservation here based on the review from Garden and Gun. The food menu looks alright, it was the drink menu that won me over.
Hmmmm. they fucked up the Hemingway daquiri but it does look damn good. Enjoy!
1. I know barbecue doesn't really work for you, but I'll throw this in anyway - Central BBQ has the best damn BBQ I've ever had. Seriously, if I were you, I would probably wait until the wife was napping and then go there immediately to pick up some pulled pork nachos. (I know BBQ nachos aren't exactly standard, but just trust me. They'll blow your taste buds off.) 2. Memphis Drum Shop is magic, even if you're not a drummer. Largest cymbal inventory in the world. Plus they have badass baseball caps (I wear mine basically every day). 3. There's a bike trail right by Rhodes College that's really beautiful, check it out. Also the entrance looks pretty sweet:
