Bug Report: Replies not showing up in inbox

My hubski wheel is orange, but when I click on it, replies are not showing up.

Tested with Opera 11.61 and Chrome 17.0.963.46 on OS X 10.7.3.

I've had a similiar bug: my hubwheel was orange even after I deleted all my replies. I checked for mentions, but found nothing in my email inbox. Maybe mk is tweaking with the code of the site this afternoon.

On that note, i haven't been receiving my mentions on my hubwheel. I only know of them through email notification. Is that how it's supposed to be? I've got my reply- and at-alerts set to "yes.

I've been having this same problem and thought I was just going insane. I kept thinking "I thought I cleared these already!"

It shows up with the shout outs as far as I know. caio

Interesting. It looks like I might have discovered another bug. When editing my original reply to you with the shoutout, the edit box returned the raw html code, which is why you're seeing the <spam id=...> in the reply.
by mk 458 days ago  ·  link
I killed that one.

I'll deal with the notification bug next.

by lessismore 458 days ago  ·  link
Awesome. Hopefully that narcissistic caio will stop cursing me now.

Perhaps the fix introduced another bug with "< >" in the comments.

Huh, weird. That might be the case, I'll take a look. I swear you have a gift here, lessismore. :)
by lessismore 457 days ago  ·  link
Might be that I do. :)
by mk 455 days ago  ·  link
Ok. That one is fixed.

Actually, I have to thank akkartik for it. akkartik is my Arc sensei.

by lessismore 457 days ago  ·  link
Users can always use an extra space between the < > to get around the problem.
by caio 460 days ago  ·  link
I was wondering about that.

This shout-out showed up, but I can recall some that didn't. I'll wait for it to happen again.

by mk 460 days ago  ·  link
Yeah, that one I know of, and I think I'll work it into the update I am currently working on.

I am cleaning up the UI a bit. Profiles and hubs are messy and have redundancies.

I didn't realize that it wasn't supposed to be orange, thanks. I hadn't noticed the 'clear inbox' link..
by mk 454 days ago  ·  link
Over-subtlety is my weakness. :/ Maybe I should make that link orange.
by thenewgreen 460 days ago  ·  link
Did this reply show up? Just wondering because this has happened to me before and it turned out that someone had deleted their comment and that's why it wasn't there.
by caio 460 days ago  ·  link
Oh, I think that's what happened. Silly me.
by lessismore 460 days ago  ·  link
Yups. It showed up.

Thanks.

by mk 460 days ago  ·  link
Thanks. I know the issue. It's because there are deleted replies in your inbox, and they aren't wiping when you empty the box. You can't see them, but they are there.

Now I just need to figure out the fix! :)

I think something else is at play here as well. thenewgreen gave a shoutout to me on the main post. Is it possible that might have triggered it as well? http://hubski.com/pub?id=17494
by mk 460 days ago  ·  link
Hm. It's empty now. I'll look into it and see if shoutouts are part of this. I'm knee-deep in another update atm.
by lessismore 460 days ago  ·  link
I just tested this with a test account. I can confirm that a shoutout in the main post does trigger it. A shoutout in a comment is okay, the comment shows up in the inbox. Hope this helps.
by mk 460 days ago  ·  link
Ah, interesting...

Yes, that helps a lot. Thanks lessismore. You have QC skillz.

by caio 460 days ago  ·  link
Weird. This shout-out, http://hubski.com/pub?id=17521, showed up in my hubwheel. But this one, http://hubski.com/pub?id=17559, didn't.

Just a minor bug, though. Not complaining, just reporting.

by mk 460 days ago  ·  link
No worries at all. This will help me squash it.
by caio 459 days ago  ·  link
Uhm, mk, are you still messing with the code? Cause I'm just getting a blank page on my feed and my hub only has my last post in it -- and nothing more. If I try to post something else, than that post disappears and the new one takes its place. http://imgur.com/e1Jbm

Yesterday, I accidentally followed myself. Maybe that's what's causing this? Plus, I can't unfollow myself.

by mk 458 days ago  ·  link
Ok, this should be fixed. Interestingly, you weren't following yourself, but were following "caio</span>".

I am pretty sure it had something to do with a shoutout?

Let me know how you followed yourself. I haven't actually pushed any new code in the last few days. I am in the middle of an update, however, and will push it tomorrow in all likelihood.

Sorry for the delay. We were at a restaurant, and far from home. gq isn't too pleased when I am playing sysadmin when we are having a nice dinner with friends. :p

by caio 458 days ago  ·  link
Yes, it did. Also, when I clicked on the caio I was following, I got a blank page that just said "Very well, then."

I followed myself through the shoutout lessismore posted. http://hubski.com/pub?id=17521

Apparently there was a big in the mention and I could visit my own hub. Just for laughs I tried following myself and that's probably -- I don't recall the exact moment -- when hubski started bugging for me.

No problems at all. Thanks for the fix.

Shoulda paid more attention to what happened to the other guy. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Narcissus_(mythology)
by thenewgreen 458 days ago  ·  link
I guess that would make lessismore your nemesis for attracting you to the reflection pool that is a shout-out.
by caio 458 days ago  ·  link
Curse you, lessismore!
by lessismore 458 days ago  ·  link
What I do? What I do? I've been minding my own business and getting caught up in the linsanity. I am innocent. Innocent I say.
by thenewgreen 458 days ago  ·  link
I see... you're planting a "pool" of your own for him to stare in to.

The plot thickens!

by thenewgreen 459 days ago  ·  link
Hey caio, sometimes after mk makes changes I have to refresh my browser to set things straight. Have you tried this?
by caio 459 days ago  ·  link
Yes, I did. BTW, it's happening on Chrome and Firefox. This has been going on since yesterday.
by mk 459 days ago  ·  link
At a restaurant. I'll fix this asap once I get back!
by lessismore 460 days ago  ·  link
You're welcome. Glad to help.
