Secondly, "how to spread the word" is the magic question, right? It's the hardest part of the entire equation. You could have the best idea in the world and it could sit there in the giant ocean of the internet unnoticed.
I'm sure you won't hear any "magic bullet" solutions from anyone. I would suggest going to sites that might have people on them that are searching for help in their lives. I would cultivate use through your own personal social circles.
Are you guys funded? Are you looking for funding? It seems to me that all the tech journals will not write about you till you are "funded". It's like trying to get a job interview without a college degree :)
Your idea feels very "whole foods" to me. Have you thought of trying to get in their monthly publications? They are ALL ABOUT self improvement etc. What you're trying to accomplish is noble, it shouldn't be difficult to get people to write about you. What you need are testimonials, examples of people that have accomplished their goals due in part to Kumbaya. Give a journalist a story and they'll write it. Make them work and they'll pass.
My quick thoughts. I see you joined Hubski a while back which is why I took the time to see your site.
Good luck!!
