The email notification is an interesting idea. Damn, we might fry our email server, though. :) If 200 people want to know when kleinbl00 posted, that's 200 emails... It might not scale too well.

As for badges, that's good to hear. Some updates are in the works, and will start appearing soon. As you've requested. :)

As an aside, sharing posts by email will be rolled out in a day or two.

If you're going to do that, kindly allow me to opt the fuck out.

I recognize that Hubski is a place without downvotes, but Reddit's handy-dandy method for setting up an RSS feed for whenever somebody comments is why I have an army of tedious little shits preventing me from commenting usefully. Saydrah has ~6 downvote bots even now. All it takes is a griefer with an axe to grind showing up and stirring up shit whenever you contribute to really kill the buzz of contributing.

Well, it's technically not that much harder to have a bot that converts static pages into RSS feeds ( http://feed43.com/ ), I do like the idea of having RSS feeds that users can personally enable/disable.

Edit: It might be neat to just enable HTML5 desktop notifications like GMail has now, though, for when you have hubski already open

That is an interesting idea. I'm going to look into that.

I had never even considered that people would use it to target-troll a person. How lame. There has to be a way to do it w/o enabling the d-bags, right?

If I have control over who gets to follow me and who doesn't, no harm, no foul. This would be cumbersome as fuck, however.

Maybe it could only be enabled if two people follow each other?

That's... an interesting idea. I kinda like it.

mk you might also want to make the direct/private messaging contingent upon a "follow-follow" relationship to avoid spamming and/or inappropriate use.

Thanks. mk -so let it be written, so let it be done.

LOL. Another reason not to do it.

I used to have a feed of comments of people that you follow that you could look at, but I axed it. I might consider bringing that back, but there aren't any notifications involved.

Instead of emails for new posts, how about a feature for users to create customize feeds based on who they choose to get updated feeds from.

Like you can build multiple feeds? Feed 1, Feed 2, etc.?
by lessismore 499 days ago  ·  link
More like a single feed of the submissions from users I like. For example, I currently follow 50 hubs, but I do not necessary want my feed to include all 50 of them, just selected ones. Does that make sense?

Like twitter lists?

Not familiar with twitter lists. I was just thinking in terms of a customized RSS feed based on new submits by people I choose. If this is similar to twitter lists, then absolutely.
