huh… hubski doesn't like the "go to a specific time in a youtube video" link. Scan forward to 6:19 for the NASA bit.
I heard this on the radio this morning and laughed a lot. She has a slightly different opinion than some of us.
I love Wanda.
There used to be a great deal more outrage in the black community over the space program. Whitey on the moon - gil scott-heron would be the definitive musical protest against the NASA program from a black artist. Even more mainstream black artist spoke against the program, take Marvin Gay's mention at the beggining of Inner City Blues. If you ever often went to bed hungry, watched a relative die from lack of medical care or lived in a ghetto the space program can pretty much go to hell.
You should check out some of his other music, he was a fantastic artist. His impact on Hip-Hop was immense but his own work often overlooked. He should have revived a Kennedy Center Award with the banquet and all that stuff but instead he got a few year in jail for possession of a bit of cocaine. He is probably one of my ten favorite musicians of all time.
A very different opinion than my own. VERY different. I get she's a comedian and just doing schtick, so I won't go on a rant about the propagation of ignorance about what our space program has to offer humanity as a whole, or that our entire salvation as a species entirely lies in the hands of it. NASAs budget is a half a penny on the dollar. I think even a comedian should be able to find more expensive and more useless programs to mock. That being said I did enjoy the line; "There used to be water on Mars? Wow... Did you know there used to be Vodka in this glass?"
