I've been called crazy before and I've observed that a lot of guys tend to dismiss their ex-girls as "crazy" when really, they aren't exhibiting symptoms of mental health problems. This article strikes home for me.
My last exgf called me up at 2 in the morning after downing a whole bottle of cough syrup to tell me that if she kills herself, it'd be my fault. I think I'm justified, but I see the point of this.
I'm sorry you had to experience that, it couldn't have been easy. To _refugee_'s point, that sounds like a clear cut sign of some serious mental health problems. Both of you might consider checking out an article that tallon posted a while back titled, A Message To Women From A man: You Are Not Crazy. It was the first time I had heard the phrase "gaslighting," which they mention in this article too.
This is a great read and thanks for sharing. I'd heard of gaslighting before, and I find that this text makes certain sweeping generalizations - but at the same time, if you are writing an open letter to approximately half of the world, you kind of have to make sweeping generalizations.
