I had never heard about "last roll call" before, thank you for introducing me. Sounds like a heart wrenchingly effective way to honor the dead by "emphasizes their absence". I had/have similar feelings regarding the Bin Ladin assassination. I find it hard to celebrate killing but I like the author (you?), I understand the rabid dog analogy.
Thanks for the comment. I am the author -- been reading Hubski for a long time as a lurker, and I finally wrote something decent enough to post (I think) so I signed up. Great community here. I've been out of the military a while now, so I missed what happened after 9/11 -- thought of joining back up after that, but on balance glad I did not.
