Why can't Protestants commit murder with a shillelagh? Who stole the Gun Room? And just who the hell is Fru Paafugleblaa? Find out in "Clue for the Clueless", a potted history of the popular board game.
Have you ever been to a "Clue Party" or rather, a "Cluedo Party" or any other type of murder mystery party? I once went to one at Alex_in_London's house and it was the bees knees. It was a roaring 20's theme. Lots of pin stripes and men in hats. My wife was the cigarette girl and she remained solidly in character the entire night. Fun times, those cigarette girls are vixens! Clue(do) is a fun game and it's evident when you play it that it has a long and rich history.
Oh hell yes, it's been ages but I did go to a "How to Host a Murder" party set in Ancient Rome. No-one dressed up, though. Boo. Now I really want to have one of those 20s parties. If I could travel anywhere in time, it would be the 1920s. They had a cultural revolution, new and exciting scientific discoveries, sexual freedoms, the golden age of silent film, radium cures, fantastic slang, classy fashions, and of course the glory that is art deco. Of course it all came crashing down in the 1930s, which cut short many of those achievements for the next few decades. I often think the 20s could have been the 60s, if it hadn't been for the 30s. If you could travel to any particular time, when would it be?
Damn, that's a good question. I think it deserves it's own post:
