How many of you sleep either with earplugs, earbuds or headphones?

We live above a (very) noisy bar which is licensed to 1am, in a 40s building which is not properly soundproofed. At times the only way I've managed to relax enough to sleep is by wearing noise cancelling or noise masking earbuds. In relating this issue with colleagues and friends, I've been surprised by how many of them responded by mentioning they rely on similar methods for sleeping (even though none of them have the downstairs bar issue).

Foam earplugs and a white noise machine have been key ingredients for many good nights of sleep in the city. I highly recommend the combination.

I do on rare occasions when I have to, but it's not that comfy and I worry about the volume damaging my ears. Found a really good mix of white & pink noise, easily my favorite thing to play.

I've been wearing earbuds to sleep since at least early high school.

I can almost never fall asleep without something to listen to, audiobook, podcast, youtube etc.

There's this whole community of earbud sleepers that I just didn't know was out there. It's weird, because I was really uncomfortable with the idea that I would have do that to sleep. It struck me as sufficiently unusual that I worried I'd made a terrible mistake buying our place.

I've had plenty of experience with insomnia, but not insomnia caused by noise.

I'm not sure what to tell you.

I grew up on a main street of a not completely sleepy town, fairly close to a railroad with 6 other people in a very small house. Silence disturbs me.
