Belittling white peoples' attempts to understand and explain racism seems like a great idea, what could go wrong?

I guess if their attempt was something other an attempt to get clicks and some obfuscation and sleight of hind to make a tidily digestible package, but it wasn't.

Not much more than a white guy trying to cash in on black dissatisfaction with the music theory guild by being disingenuous. In retrospect the guys video was plainly explorative.

You're right that Adam Neely's YouTube content is at least somewhat confined within the boundaries of what's acceptable to his audience, but I don't think you can know his intentions. It seemed to me like he was genuinely interested in drawing attention to racial disparities in the "top tiers" of music and the way that it's formally taught in this country.

So although we disagree, and I could very well be 100% wrong (I don't personally know Adam), I really enjoyed your contribution in the other thread, which was rightfully badged. My own experience in music education was so incredibly white that perhaps his sophomoric, explorative explanations were what I needed.

I do need to listen to more jazz from black musicians. That's not in dispute.
