$340 billion in supplemental spending, which includes $117 billion for hospitals and veterans’ care. It also includes $25 billion mostly for public transit to make up for revenue lost because of dwindling ridership.

$117 bil is gonna turn out to be low-balling. The main problem is that we don't only need to be giving money to existing hospitals, we need to be BUILDING new emergency facilities. It's stupid to think that we've appreciably flattened the curve in the U.S. such that we won't need a shitton more beds, places to put them, people to tend to them, etc., in about two weeks, if not sooner. It'll vary regionally. At least I'm not the only one yelling about this. It's not a problem that the free market is well-equipped to handle.

Some have speculated that Trump has been perhaps intentionally cold in his assistance to New York and the west coast because he knows those states won't vote for him. Maybe someday we'll get the inside scoop. He won't be re-elected, though. Sad that it took a pandemic.
