Reddit is blocked in China, but that isn’t stopping one of the country’s largest technology firms, Tencent from making a massive investment to help keep the “Internet’s front page,” moving full speed ahead. Well, I find this a bit odd... I read that the company also owns a stake in Snapchat, another service that is blocked by China’s Great Firewall.

Something tells me they aren't investing in Reddit or Snapchat in order to influence what people living in China think of China. Heck, they might have spent that money just to give the impression that they have the power to control what's said on the internet, but it's probably more than that.
