I think so. But I don't expect to deal with it for another 15 years.Nevertheless, even though political regimes can be overthrown, and ideologies can be criticized and disowned, behind a regime and its ideology there is always a way of thinking and feeling, a group of cultural habits, of obscure instincts and unfathomable drives. Is there still another ghost stalking Europe (not to speak of other parts of the world)?
I feel like we're moving through the turbulence of the 1910s-1940s in real time and have been doing so for some time. Not exactly but It's one thing to read about history. It's another thing to live it and hope things will work out. Like I can read a two page summary of the Watergate scandal and feel satisfied but living it is a nightmare. The details of history are spread out over weeks and months and we have zero perspective
