I have a question about diss tracks - do they hurt the career of whoever loses?

Eminem addressed this in an interview that he put out right before releasing this, and actually within the track itself. Different rappers feel differently about it. I believe that honor is worth something and a proper diss takes away from a rappers honor, if not their popularity.

Basically, Eminem held off from releasing a MGK diss because responding to something as stupid and petty as Rap Devil (Seriously? Cheesy mother- ) would give validity to MGK as someone who is allowed to trade shots. Just acknowledging him gives him the reaction he wants. Simultaneously, Eminem has stated that he refuses to be a punching bag, AND he thought that he and MGK were close (Hence the line about an autograph for MGK's daughter) because they toured together at one point and Em helped him find a bigger audience.

In this instance, I think that Em's fear is correct. MGK is more well known now than before this became a thing. However, laying the verbal smackdown is something that Eminem excels at and it makes everybody happy to see him dropping bombs.
