This is a big enough development to warrant another post, methinks.
- Specifically, he said Cohen was willing to provide the special counsel Robert Mueller with evidence that Trump worked with Russia to sway the election.
Please let there be a paper trail. Testifying is one thing, but please let there be documentation.
I'd like to believe there's documentation in the 99.8% of 4 million documents. Probably some nice music playlists, too. After a brief legal skirmish around Cohen's defense over whether attorney-client privilege protected the documents and taped recordings seized by the FBI, a judge ruled that less than 0.2% of the documents would be spared from FBI scrutiny.
Something tells me that Michael Cohen's music tastes would not appeal to me...
Right, but the argument is that Cohen assisted in payoffs to Trump’s previous mistresses to prevent them from speaking out and damaging his presidential campaign with bad publicity. And there are some rather confusing laws governing the specifics of that, and it looks like we’re probably going to see how those laws are interpreted in a court of law. But no, this particular article is about Cohen’s lawyer hinting that Cohen has information about Trump committing the fabled crime of “collusion”, or, more technically, conspiracy against the U.S. via cooperation with a foreign adversary with the intention of undermining the democratic process. I guess we’ll see how much damage Cohen can do in the coming months. :)
