Who knows what the real story is here like always there is so much spin that I can’t tell what is really happened vs what’s just people pushing certain agenda.
Only thing I do know is that I can’t trust the media to report a story accurately.
Never mind, I found a trustworthy outlet writing about it. So turns out the news is very much real, but many outlets (including TIme) has used a photograph that isn't actually related to the news. Can we please please please please please stop calling everything we don't like fake news? Eroding the trust in media might help promote your agenda short-time, but it might lead us down a very dangerous road where there is no-one to hold the government accountable for their actions. Do you really want to be in that situation in 6 years when your political enemies control the country?
Someone somewhere probably got separated sure, but is it happened systematically? Are there other underlying reasons like say the person has been arrested at the border multiple times or is trafficking drugs. If someone who was a citizen subjected their kid to the same conditions that the mother did it’s likely CPS would have come and taken the kid into protective custody. What I’m saying is that you see the outrage angle clearly in the media reporting but there may be other important pieces of information that are missing, some of which may not be legally allowed to be released even. The story plays out as children are being snatched away from their parents at the border because trump is a bad person and hates immigrants. That’s not what is happening though the story is significantly more nuanced and complicated than that. Reading multiple reports you can kind of piece something tougher but it’s all very murky and sensationalized.
https://mobile.twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1009241032100335616 He literally in the literal sense of the word said this is happening. Nobody in his government has denied this at all. They literally said that they are sepeating families because they are prosecuting everybody that crosses illegally even if they apply for asylum once getting there. They’re just blaming Democrats. The basics are that they’ve decided to prosecute everybody who cross illegally and although they say people can still cross a bridge legally those people are waiting days in the hot sun hearing nothing. The dumbest thing is that a lot of those people will probably gain entry into the country, and their child will be traumatized by the experience depending on age. The point of keeping families together is to not fuck up their brain development before you let them into your society. It’s like me emotionally scarring somebody at my door and then inviting them into my house, it’s probably better to not emotionally scar them. Keeping families separate is one thing. Doing it without ensuring a proper child to caretaker ratio is idiotic and having to figure out where to house said children after enacting the policy is reckless. I have a hard time believing this government agency can’t look back at the previous year to estimate how much they’ll likely take in and how much space/tents/beds/caretakers they need. When your government says it does something and you still try to believe they’re not doing that thing it might be time to take a step back. while at the same time recommending changes to obsolete & nasty laws, which force family separation.
Trump is a bad person who hates immigrants. Source: I follow him on Twitter and have seen him give speeches. He's using factual reporting as examples of attacks against him. And he can do it because his actions are that bad. He's literally unbelievably terrible. He's intentionally eroding trust in the media so he can get away with anything.
