It's annual review time here, and mine was 100% all across the board. I am even pushing to change my title and make myself a Manager, and getting positive grunts from leadership.
My review was great.
My boss just had his review and it was ... not great.
They are basically going to hire someone from outside to come into a Director-level position over my boss, give the "interesting" work to the new guy, and leave my boss with the shitty day-to-day gruntwork crap that has been bogging him down and making it impossible for him to get higher level work done.
They pile every little manual task on him, with an IMMEDIATE: RUSH urgency on it, and then ask why he hasn't achieved on his longer-term, higher-level goals.
Now, there is a teeeny-tiny possibility that what they are saying is that they need to create the new position, pretend to interview people for it, and then promote him into the job.... but that is not the "read" he got from his review.
Now he is dejected and updating his LinkedIn profile.
And I may lose the best boss I've ever had.
