I've enjoyed all the Marvel movies, including Guardians 2, but the part with the Soveriegn chasing Yandu really bugs me. Earlier our heroes make it abundantly clear that the Soveriegn had no chance to follow them through a jump. Then Taserface tells the Soveriegn where Yandu's ship is. Ok, maybe during the mutiny he called the Soveriegn off-camera to tell them about Yandu's betrayal so they know he's their enemy. Fine. But then Yandu goes through 700 jumps. Earlier one was enough, but now they're tracked down through 700?I found Guardians Vol. 2 to be a mess
Plot holes aside, I have general complaints about overall craft of that movie. My biggest three are 1) the dumbing down of Drax's character, 2) killing of jokes by forcing characters to laugh, 3) dragging on of scenes well past their need to be closed (the biggest one was Baby Groot's going back and forth trying to find Yondu's controller for his arrow). I'd toss in the overt preachiness about family in there too, but I can't knock that too much because I often enjoy films where subtly is not a strong point (Godzilla) and I think since about circa 2000 or so overt preachiness is just kind of a fashion in films (I point to Fast and Furious and Nolan's Batman trilogy as two really good examples).
