I'll stick to the basics for a while. It's not like I have any related experience (piano and fucking around with a violin that I can't even find anywhere) so it's not like I can jump into it.

    lose at chess

Oh, man! I can go find my binder and get you some of my earlier games if you really want to see me lose. :P Remember how I once remarked about losing a game because I didn't know about en passant rule? A game before that I was winning, didn't notice that I have a guaranteed checkmate and exposed my king to a checkmate in one move. That's like managing to go from +15 to -15 in one move! If there's any reason why I'm a legend at my club, it's that game. :D

    not correcting

Overruled if that's a TA showing us the correct method and doing it wrong. Sorry, but as far as maths goes, there's no compromising. You can be objectively wrong and not pointing it out leads to at best doubling your work.

In other cases I try to avoid being "that know-it-all guy", but not always succeed. And I know how annoying it is. I'll give that book a read.

My bad, I didn't mean to suggest you shouldn't have corrected him. I definitely would done so too- bl00 has the idea covered better.

Also, please don't read that book, I do not want you associating that book with me.

Wait- show me that game. Even if you didn't know en passant was a real thing, I find it hard to believe that you would have gotten yourself into a losing position without knowing that rule.
