First time I heard this album was in Nova Scotia, it became one of the albums my ex and I would listen to when we cleaned the house on Sundays. Part of me feels like I've posted it before but I can't remember. it's the kind of music you can put on really loud and chill out, so basically winter music. Winter is definitely here in the mountains so it's back in the rotation.
There earlier stuff is definitely summer time music for me, probably because in like grade 7 or 8 I remember going for walks playing Romantic Rights and Black History Month over and over again. It was that, The Shins, The Flaming Lips and some angsty teen music to top it off.
I listened to Beck's new album this morning, thought it was pretty lame. If I didn't know it was Beck I could never have guessed it was him. Sounded like boy band schlock. Been listening to a bunch of Ghanaian High Life, old soul girl group stuff and a variety of Jamaican music. I've got a pair of Klipsch Heresy I's in my stereo room right now on loan from a friend. They sound great. I think I might blow some money on Hi-Fi speakers and a tube amp soon. The guy who loaned them to me just traded one of his sets of La Scala's for a pair of Klipsch Cornwalls an they sound fucking amazing. The La Scala's sound bad next to them. Not sure if I'll buy Cornwalls or Heresy's. I wish I could get my hands on a pair of Heresy II's before I pull the trigger. kleinbl00 You were right to put the La Scala's into the shop, it was the right thing to do. The shop had become my friends speaker show room when he's trading. I've had La Scalas, Cornwalls, and Heresys in there now and will probably get some rad JBLs in soon. So far the Cornwalls have far in away blown the most minds.
I haven't herd the Klipschorns in a good room yet only in a totally shitty listening situation I wasn't blown away. Maybe he'll drop a pair in the shop one day if he goes to trade the pair he has but I think he's holding onto them. He had never heard Cornwalls before and didn't know what to expect. We were both surprised at how much better they were than any of the other Klipsch speakers we had listened to. At most you kind of expect to think you kind of like one or the other a little bit more but right off everyone who heard the La Scalas and the Cornwalls side by side was won over.
Listened to the most recent Arcade Fire album. I liked a lot of it. They record music that feels nostalgic to me. It's an amalgam of lots of bands I grew up with.
Don't know about most the rest of the band, but he's been jamming with the guitarist, Aaron Dugan, since college. His live recordings are worth the listen if you like this. Their stage synergies shone through in studio recordings of the latest album, too, which is new. Snippet of a live recording in London. Wasn't his regular crew, but as you said, he's got a good thing going.
This song is your gateway drug. Soon, you'll learn to love both. Also, I know this is a parody, but if you've never listened to it, give Big Iron a shot. It's a very good song.I'm a fan of neither westerns nor ballads, but I just can't stop listening to it.
