I think recording it would be the most difficult part. I'd definitely be game for launching something ridiculously high. But, what would be the best recording option?

a low budget handy cam would do fine anything that shoots 720p will be good enough unless you are wanting it on TV you could use a mobile phone but it might not be reliable although a gprs tracker might be handy for after it crash lands :-)

I think we had some discussion about doing just this a few months back. I think its an awesome idea. I'd certainly be willing to throw down some bucks to make it happen. Even though he's absent at the moment, I know thenewgreen would, too. The idea of recording a hubski space flight is too cool to resist. Maybe we can set up a donation site. I can't imagine it would cost more than a couple hundred dollars to get the supplies together.

Hell Yes!

Yeah, this is going to happen.

Stay tuned.

can we get some member names written on whatever you send up to space? :-)

mk  ·  2306 days ago  ·  link  ·

Yeah, it will definitely have khaaan on it. We need to work out the details, but this will happen.

b_b  ·  2306 days ago  ·  link  ·

Definitely could get worked into the design. What qualifies a name? Not sure, but khaaan will be there, if anyone. Its only appropriate given that its really a photography mission.

just promise me you will shoot it Horizontally :-)

I just found this weather balloon trajectory site that seems like it would be helpful:

I think I am going to do this.

Yes, without some way to track it, I'm sure I would lose it. I suppose you could do that with your phone.

Hm, I wonder how long my phone can record? I'm going to be upgrading soon, maybe that's what I should do with it. It needs a parachute.
