It's a good point and don't get me wrong: the more of this will be easily accessible to people, the better. However, every bit here is plastered with requests to people to read:
- project statement,
and, to top it off, there's a repeated plea for people to just go around and have a look. Get to know the place and people. If a newbie ignores everything that's already laid down for him/her like that, then that's on them. I usually try to help and will continue giving tips or answering questions. Especially if I can see someone who's clueless (and I'm not going to lie, I was like that myself) and showing potential, but there's a big part of me which sees too much hand-holding as detrimental. There's always this thread:
for people to ask questions or get guidance. There's also a brute-force approach when you go to the people tab and read a bunch of their recent posts. That's how I started following a lot of you guys. There are many options, let people fuck around and make mistakes. I don't think that there are problems that can't be talked over or amended at a later date.
I don't know if I'm making a (good) point but it's at least a sketch of my attitude.
