You're also missing the coastline erosion due to dredging for oil channels. Geologically speaking, the Louisiana coastline is a breakwater/swamp. Getting deepwater access through a breakwater/swamp tends to diminish the breakwater/swamp characteristics of the breakwater/swamp and turns it more into deepwater.
