It does not take a refined rhetorical skill to understand that the first person to invoke Hitler has lost the debate. It also doesn't take advanced study of public relations to determine that debate of the delivery methods of WMD will never, ever overshadow said WMD. One can accurately argue that Hitler did not deploy chemical weapons against enemy combatants in a theater of war. However, as The Atlantic rightly points out, doing so is one of the most efficient battle-winning war-losing gambits one can play. And also, passover. It's like the triple word score of gaffes.
There's gotta be some cut footage of Dennis from Always Sunny hearing or saying that, and eventually concluding that Hitler was actually a pretty classy, well-kempt guy. And I typically censor stupid / potentially offensive reactions like that one (especially invoking pop culture) because they don't add much to a conversation, but let it now serve to demonstrate how I'm commonly reacting to reality.
