I'm glad that something as petty as national healthcare couldn't get in the way of same-party love.

Edit: /s, yes. But I've been looking through the comments sections of various Fox News articles, as ya do, and there are some very vocal armchair conservatives who are somehow convinced that the democratic party is in its death throes. I'm not saying the democrats are above reproach, but if you can't see that the "GOP" is an absolute gaffe right now, I dunno what to tell you. You think these people represent you? Still? Dude, they can't even coddle you as hard as they'd like, arguably due to sheer incompetence, not for lack of effort. Almost all of these people are trying to direct money upwards and they can't even agree on how best to do it. They know that if they passed this, enough citizens would die that the party would be done for, within one or two election cycles. That's implicitly acknowledging your status of near-extinct. I'm not going to preach at people on that side of the fence, but I am going to eventually want to have a conversation. Hopefully, we have some time to figure out approaching it tactfully and tastefully enough for serious consideration before we manage to collectively kill ourselves. And I know a lot of people have said "we've tried that, and it didn't work, we're sick of it!", but the minds of many middle-class conservatives are probably slightly more sensitized to rational debate. Slightly. I'm feeling almost optimistic, today.

Edit2: Although I think that there are more than enough problems with the ACA, and healthcare in general, this repeal attempt clearly addressed none of the issues.

The attempts to address issues were minimal, and then heaped more issues on top. Not a good way to go about it. But now they can scream 'Obamacare is collapsing and it's all the Democrats' fault!" while they continue chipping away at it.

And yes, he did campaign on 'repeal and replace' but what he described as the ideal plan and what the GOP gave him are worlds apart. I would say I'm surprised he tried to sell it but it kinda seems like he has no clue what he is doing so...

He just found out that healthcare is complex several days ago.

My elitist pig friends and I (also elitist pig) still occasionally make jabs at the business major types, and this whole episode hasn't been helping me get over that stereotype. Rumor has it he's a failure in business, at least, so I shouldn't let it reinforce anything.

But yeah, I think people are nailing it when they say that the GOP has become a "party of opposition" that's forgotten how to pass laws. Either that or they're all just sitting on their hands before someone takes Donny away in a straightjacket.

When I read the quote where he said "who knew Healthcare could be so complicated' I nearly gave myself a neck injury from facepalming so hard. I mean, I don't consider myself to be all that smart but ... fuck dude you are the president at least try to make some effort?

Not intelligent enough to feign intelligence. You can only put so much makeup on a thing.
