Ouch. I saw this more from the perspective of maybe we re-evaluate more of what if prioritized when folks learn. Highlighters could be useful if a reader used them to summarize points and then quiz themselves, but speaking from experience, I'll be damned if the parents of my students really will ever take it to the degree of scrutiny that you have.
My beef is that educators and researchers are constantly re-evaluating how to prioritize learning. It's a perpetual battle where the new is against the old but both new and old are against ignorance and failure. But articles like this? "yep, everything you know is wrong! It's all settled and you were lied to your whole life. Eat a dick and listen to our pledge drive!"
