That's good to know (I share the low opinion of Gladwell).

Let me know next time something happens in DC ... I'm only a couple of hours south.

blackbootz is gunning for most-met-up user status. He has already met most of the elites from both coasts, as well as the Michigan core, plus lil. And he's perfect for the job: curious, warm, conversational, and unfailingly polite; it is impossible not to enjoy his company.

I would be happy to join another meeting, even if it means submitting to selfies.

Are you nominating blackbootz for that position (Most-Met-Up)? I'd like to see his list of qualifications.

wasoxygen  ·  2582 days ago  ·  link  ·

I suppose I am. I know you are a strong contender for the title.

I imagine that mk is the Most-Met-Up. But I think Lil might very well be the most travelled and met-up nonfounder Hubski user. Just on the basis of the one meetup in D.C., where I heard there were something like twenty users, Lil and all the participants would have me beat, not to mention all her other meetups.

I've done 7 by my count. And have met:

Ecib

mk

b_b

OftenBen

TNG

_refugee_

8bit

rob05c

beezneez

steve

kb

insom

randomuser

lil

mivasair

WasO

Meriadoc

arguewithatree

Pretty sure I haven't forgotten anyone. And as far as pointless contests go, this is a very fun pointless contest.

I understood most-met-up to mean met the most individuals; however, another pointless but fun contest could be attended-most-meetups which could be any situation in which two or more hubskins are face to face. I've been to Detroit, Surrey, LA, Boston, Baltimore, Toronto, Hamilton. So we're tied for 7.

You've met 18 individuals.

My count shows a mere 16, if I count my meetup with myself.

But there will one day be a big Seattle meetup and maybe NYC, and I have to get to DC one of these days.

Here's my checklist:

Ecib check

mk check

b_b check

OftenBen nope

TNG check

_refugee_ check

8bit nope

rob05c nope

beezneez nope

steve nope - but feel like I have

kb nope - but almost -- so close

ButterflyEffect - no actually, but almost

insom check

randomuser check

lil check

mivasairski check

WasO nope - but feel like I have

Meriadoc nope

arguewithatree nope - but I mailed her a book

and not to forget:

someguyfromcanada

coffeesp00ns

Also an early member of Team Hubski responsible for bugs, forwardslash

Also the ubiquitous flagamuffin

and a previously very frequent contributor: theadvancedapes

and another previously very frequent contributor: humanodon

I have not met galen, but he sent me a finger puppet

I also met that guy, blackbootz. You might know him.

And so we meet and unmeet, show up and disappear.

I'm not counting my many several friends who went on to read some things I had written but are not regulars.

I look forward to seeing you again, perhaps in Baltimore.

I think thenewgreen is most likely the winner of most meetups and most met.

thenewgreen  ·  2581 days ago  ·  link  ·

Hmm.. You may be right. Who knows. I have met several Hubsiers from North Carolina that I don't think others have. So there is that. Plus, I've invited so many of my friends to the site that I know a log of people, even the lurkers like scrimetime and @fre33lunch@. -You still lurking scrimer/fr33lunch?

Will do Johnny!
