mk published one. I cannot recall the name.

I will never tire of linking to this, either.

If Hubski ever gets together and does an online campaign, we have to play one of MK's games.

I would love to, although I don't think that I could join outside of maybe six weeks during the summer :/. I'm UTC+01:00/02:00 depending on DST. East Coast 7 PM Saturday is my 1 AM Sunday and that would likely be the start of the session given my experience with online groups.

sorry about IRC bad airport connection.

Devac  ·  248 days ago  ·  link  ·

Meh, don't sweat it. I suspected as much anyway. steve asked me to tell that he loves you and is sorry that he missed you before (presumably) going to sleep a few minutes later.

Although if I was a dick about it, I would make an observation that surprisingly many people go away from IRC soon after I'll say so much as 'hello', even when it's one of those "Who's gonna be on IRC tonight" deals. It's cool of you guys to actually give a reason.

I felt bad because you had just said something serious about being in the hospital and about your health. Anyway, I'm still sitting in the airport. Still awake. It's 2:26 a.m. and I have two more hours before, apparently, I can go through security.

it's quite surreal.

it totally was a dick maneuver on MY part! I was up late finishing a thing for work and when I saw lil surface and mention IRC I was like "Hey.... I could throw some toothpicks in my eyelids for a few minutes....

alas - a few minutes late I was drifting HARD. I felt extra bad for the same reason lil did - you dropped some serious shit and we both peaced out.

I did crash... and crash hard. It's the new normal. Up 'til late, up early. Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

I figure the time zone issue is also why we've never gotten a group Civ or EU4 game going.

It'd have to be play-by-mail, which sounds glacial.

Although, I'm slowly realizing that if my face-to-face group is going to keep playing together, we're probably going to have to go that route. One of the core members is now working 10-13 hour days 6 days a week...

You have no idea. I took part in one such game as a GM. In eleven months we have accomplished less than during my typical two sessions.

Pros of pbm format:

- Charismatic and scholarly characters can actually pull these off. It's the little things, but a whole speech by wizard can get a lot smarter with one moment of thought or glance at the thesaurus.

- It's browseable and with 'paper trail', so even if you are confused you can always get back to what just occurred.

- If any of the players can draw, then even a pencil sketch can add a lot to the game.

- You can say that you aren't comfortable with speaking as the character in first person all the time, but there's no excuse from writing like that. It can help people with some social problems as well.

Cons of pbm format:

- Glacial pace.

- Combat gets hard to track if you don't add some map with updates.

- Some dialogues that would take ten minutes in a face-to-face game take a fucking week.

It's a good idea to make some sort of agreement along the lines of "one post/message per day with at least 200 words in it" and make it a point that a short discussion can be made in some instant messaging system and you will just paste it for all who heard it.

Or just play shorter sessions if the commute isn't a problem. I would argue that it's better to play for two hours via Roll20 or MapTool (if face-to-face isn't possible) than go to pbm format.

It is an awesome story and an awesome game and only someone as awesome as you could contain both and you know it.

The other day I was looking at a Mustang and thought how shit they are for off-roading.

kleinbl00  ·  248 days ago  ·  link  ·

We were on roading you pleb. But yes. They are shit for off-roading.

Growing up it was common knowledge that a Mustang had the same wheelbase as a Bronco and the conversion was pretty easy.

Whaaaaaaaa-

kleinbl00  ·  247 days ago  ·  link  ·

Camaros fit on Blazers, too. it is known.

There were prolly a half dozen of these in the Espanola valley. I decided to be difficult and put a Triumph TR-7 on a Scout chassis, which involved cutting 15 inches out of the frame. Of course over in the UK they just use Landys which makes it hella simpler.

I can always tell when March Madness is in town.... all of the boys from Nebraska and Kansas show up in these.

goobster  ·  247 days ago  ·  link  ·

Is that black body an... Opel? Lancia?

kleinbl00  ·  247 days ago  ·  link  ·

Well, I'll tell you this: 3/4ths of the fitments on Lotuses were TR-7 parts, 11-moving-part 3-position-switches and all. So there's that.

Thank you for that link. I had read it before, but I just laughed till there were tears in my eyes. Needed that.
